How Big Should a Billboard Be?

When it comes to billboards, size matters (it’s not just a myth!). But that doesn’t mean there’s not variety – in fact, billboards can be found in all sorts of sizes. Three formats, however, are the most common.

First are bulletins. Bulletins are what you’ll find on the side of major roads. They typically come in the 14’ by 48’ range (though they may also be found in 10’ by 40’ or a bit smaller). Either way, these boards are large and in charge and clearly seen by those passing by. These types of boards are placed along highways or near large cities.

Posters are another option. They measure 10‘ by 22’ as a rule, making them not as large as bulletins but still easily seen. These types of billboards – though they can be placed anywhere – are found on roadways less often used than busy highways. They’re typically viewed by people driving to nearby destinations (like local restaurants) or those who go the same way to work each day.

Billboard Sizes

Jr. Posters are what happens when two posters get together. Or, they’re the smallest billboard option (you be the judge!). Jr. Posters measure 6’ by 12’. They’re much tinier in terms of area (when compared to other billboard options), but they work when used carefully. They’re typically placed outside businesses where they can attract foot traffic and advertise things like holiday sales or the launch of new products. They may also be placed on buildings or along small roads on occasion.

The size of you billboard matters, but only in the capacity of what you’re after. Sometimes, it pays to go big and, other times, good things come in small packages.

Ad Focus (www.TheAdFocus.com) offers billboards along with other mediums like Taxi advertising, Tuk Tuk advertising on eTuks, pedicab ads, party bike advertising and kiosks to name a few.
