Billboard Products in Charlotte, NC

Charlotte may look like a brand-new city, but it is steeped in history. Its roots run deep in the Old South, from before the American Revolution. As the New South emerged after the Civil War, Charlotte took off—first as a railroad junction and then as a cotton mill hub. Today, Charlotte, NC is one of America’s largest banking centers and one of the nation’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas featuring a modern downtown city center known as “Uptown.” Uptown is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which celebrates the sport of auto racing.

Nicknamed, “The Queen City,” Charlotte earned its name after Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III who ruled the Colonies when European settlers chartered the town back in 1768. Tryon, the city’s main street, still carries the name of North Carolina’s Colonial governor William Tryon, signifying its time under Colonial influence.

Major league sports arrived just as Charlotte broke into the ranks of top-20 U.S. cities. The Charlotte Hornets brought professional basketball to the city in 1988 (thanks to North Carolina’s famed Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill rivalry and Michael Jordan’s Tar Heel State roots). Then, in 1993, the Carolina Panthers football team was formed by Jerry Richardson, a former NFL player.  Today the city hosts numerous stadiums including Truist Field (formerly BB&T Park) home of the Charlotte Knights, Bank of America Stadium and Carolina Panthers Practice Field, all conveniently located in Uptown.
