Pride Parade History

Pride Month is celebrated in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. One year after the uprising, cities nationwide held their first Pride parades, also known as gay liberation marches. Commemorative in nature, they also acted as protests. Year over year, these marches drew in thousands of people, police resistance, and media coverage.

Over time, June became known as Pride Month. The entire month is dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ communities. Global Pride Day is on the 28th of June. And you will see these Pride parades continue to live on today, stronger than ever.

Pride Parade Advertising

Nationwide, Pride parades bring a variety of pride-themed advertising campaigns to the media forefront. More than ever, brands are signaling support for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride month. However, one article states that support must come from more than a rainbow-hued post on social media.

OOH advertising is a unique and fun way to stand out in such an energetic, passionate, and lively crowd. Because this goes beyond your traditional advertising or standard social media posts. Digital mobile billboards, pedicabs, party bikes, and electric shuttles can get into highly populated areas, where traditional advertising cannot. This unique form of advertising makes your brand campaign almost unavoidable to the naked eye.
